A binding international AI safety treaty will not be handed to us. It has to be argued for, organized for, and paid for.
Most of the money in AI safety still goes to labs and technical research that treat superintelligence as inevitable. Almost none of it funds the political work of making sure superintelligence is never built. We do that work, and only that work: a binding international treaty, public pressure, and the attention campaign that makes the treaty possible. We take no money from AI laboratories or their investors.
Technical AI safety already commands the field's money and its brightest people, and for all that effort no one has shown how to reliably control a system far smarter than the humans who build it. Superintelligence cannot be controlled. The only protection left is the choice not to build it. That choice is political, and it is badly underfunded.
A gift here pays for the missing piece. Not another paper on how to control a mind smarter than its builders. Staff, organizers, X replies that actually meet the race slogans where they land, content lawmakers and creators see, and the long push to move philanthropy toward prevention. Dollar for dollar, that is where the next dollar lowers extinction risk the most.

If you want a donation to do as much good as a donation can.
The point of a gift is its effect, and a dollar's effect is not the same everywhere. So the honest question is whether this is the best available use of the next dollar. Take that question seriously and everything else follows from it.
The highest-impact causes are the ones that reach everyone, and everyone who comes after. A threat to the entire human future outweighs any bounded problem, because what it puts at stake is not one generation but every generation that could ever follow.
Of the technologies that could end humanity, artificial superintelligence sits at the top. By the best structured estimates available, it carries something on the order of a hundred times the extinction risk of nuclear war, and it is the only one that improves itself and acts against every countermeasure we raise.
Technical safety research already commands the field's money and its best minds, and still no one can control a system far smarter than us. The underfunded work is the other kind: the binding, verified international agreement that prevents superintelligence from being built. We are narrowly focused on that one thing, not on the research that already exists.
The most impactful thing you can fund is preventing superintelligence, and the most neglected part of that is the public campaign that makes it law. That is exactly where your gift goes, and why a dollar here is, dollar for dollar, among the highest-impact gifts you can make.
Fund the mission →Gifts cover what it costs to run the programs below.
We need funding as soon as possible for a full-time person who replies on X whenever the ASI race, the Singularity, or superintelligence is the pitch. Race slogans land every hour with no careful counter in the thread. X is where lawmakers, journalists, and lab leaders actually read. Replies can reach millions of impressions. Your money pays for an X Organization account and the wages of the person writing and replying every day. Measurable output: impressions and reach on replies and original posts (public analytics once the account is live).
